The writers failed on this movie. We learned little about Napolean other than a few disgusting things about his sex life and his relationship with Josephine. Tha violence I expected but not the graphic sex as they could have let us know more about the relationship with his wife without those scenes which seemed to be added just to get an R rating or to distract from the lack of a plot to the movie.
The acting by the main characters was decent but there seemed to be no rhyme or reason to the story line, so they had little to work with.
The audio was poor. Hard to even hear the dialogue. But most disappointing was I expected this movie to be historically accurate plus teach me about the life of Napolean. I left feeling the movie had no real point, proving nothing except many men died during the battles he led.
The one positive thing I can say is the costumes he wore were impressive and Phoenix wore them well. This movie could have become a historical masterpiece but it didn't even come close.
