i am repulsed by this movie, and equally repulsed by the positive reviews for it. i am not a movie critic, i don’t even watch movies that often. i do not get the feeling that this movie is actually deep or meaningful. as a watcher, i walked away completely confused by what message the director was trying to send. ultimately i feel that this movie is centered around shock value and taboo eroticism and has little else to offer. but the fact that she named it saltburn because it’s supposed to be a pleasurable sting … i want to throw up. the sexual scenes in the film were mostly just gross and off-putting, with the final sexual scene involving a grave was just abhorrent. i actually cried after watching this movie because i was so overwhelmingly disgusted! so, no, i don’t get the hype, i don’t get why my friend recommended this to me, i REGRET watching it. there wasn’t a single moment in this movie that i enjoyed. when i see people trying to dissect this movie for its meaning and content, i feel like im watching them suck on a bone that has no meat. just let it go, there’s nothing there.
