5/5 Stars. Brilliant, clever, stylized filmmaking by Yorgos Lanthimos with an absolutely game-changing and groundbreaking performance by Emma Stone. If she doesn't get the Best Actress Oscar this year, she will have been robbed. The rest of the cast was also extraordinary, the script was great, the steampunk aesthetics were wonderful. The theses of the film were powerful and deep. It's not for the faint of heart or the weak of spirit or stomach and it's not for the prudish. I would say there is a very big portion of the population who may not appreciate Poor Things, who may find it unpleasant or even repulsive. But in my view, it's a startling but impressive work of art and one of the very best films I've seen in the past twelve months.
