I’m a big Joaquin Phoenix fan, but this was not the right part for him. It seemed like he was heavily sedated throughout the movie. Aside from Phoenix’s underwhelming performance, it was a cinematic masterpiece of sorts, although visually colorless, which is why I gave it 2 stars instead of 1.
