With a simple plot and some adorable pitbulls, "Becky" somehow feels hollow. Kevin James is especially delightful as the main antagonist but despite all the brutality he piles on, I could not find myself cheering Becky to victory.
"Becky" is a rebellious young girl whose lost her mother and is somewhat angry with the world. When her father brings her to her family cabin house, they unfortunately encounter a group of savage supremacists who recently escaped from incarceration.
Is it because Becky is highly unlikeable? Or merely that any thriller or slasher loving audience has been here before? Despite all the violence, and there is plenty, nothing really was shocking and there was a lack of urgency in the proceedings.
Despite all the promise, "Becky" is dull and often unnecessarily brutal.
