A band of revolutionaries takes up the Irish cause of independence against the Crown. Pained by the deprivation of fellow Irishmen, a bright young man, who is supposed to serve in the best hospital in London, changes his mind and formally joins the local branch of IRA. When a truce is negotiated between the British Crown and IRA, mandating the establishment of the Irish Free State, he and many of his comrades oppose the idea of a dominion under the Crown. They declined to give up resistance, believing the truce is an aberration from their ultimate goal of liberation from British subjugation. The divergence of opinions gives birth to internecine strife, leading to a vicious circle of hatred and bloodshed.
