Lapata ladies is undoubtedly a female centric movie. As per me the most powerful role was played by the tea stall lady who keeps phool until she finds her husband - Manju maai. She is portrayed as a strong self supported emotionally independent woman. As the narration says she had thrown her husband and son out of the house as their presence in her life was only derogatory to her self esteem. She finds an old her in phool. Who talks about how her husband will surely come in search of her and will never abandon her as the love they share is emaculate and pure. Mai understands the feeling of marriage and the feeling of utmost trust that it brings on your husband, it's him n you against the world. But as she has aged and lived through this feeling she tries to make phool understand that maybe her husband will never return. The love she is expecting might never come her way. Life has made mai experience this and she wants phool to not be fooled by the conditioning of the society where a woman is made to believe that she needs to live to marry and love from her husband is the highest reward in this world. She gives her the opportunity to work to make phool understand how self sufficient she can be. The depiction of her re-warding her with money for making the sweets also depicts upliftment that a woman can bring to another woman in this male chauvinist society. Mai has a heart of gold. She wants phool to find her husband but also wants her to have faith in herself. She wants her to believe that she needs no man to live her life happily and feel accomplished.

Re-watching jab we met is certainly my most interesting hobby! This time which was the 3762th time to be precise , I perceived the characters very differently. Until my early twenties I was convinced I am Geet and I need my Aditya in this world of Anshuman's!! Skip to mid 20s where I realised the actual red flag is Geet(which is still me in my head). She had no clarity and her Live life unplanned to the fullest is the lamest approach to life. Skip to late 20s ( that is present ). I am no longer Geet! JUST IMAGINE! I am not even Aditya and my idea of any Aditya even existing rather than fictionally is set! I am *drum rolls* ANSHUMANNNN! Craaaaaaaazy?!?!?! But Anshuman is everything we all are! Scared to risk the comfort of life, scared to leave everything behind in life for some crazy love, being practical > Emotional! And certainly being very calculative and tad bit of selfish! Also manipulative (hard to accept) but we all know somewhere deep down if there is anyone who blindly loves us we can treat them however we wish and later just manipulate them into thinking how you were not prepared to accept them during the point of time where they left everything for you. I am Anshuman surely. Calculative, Manipulative and Commitment phonic! But also, Realistic, Self aware and Actychiphobic! I am wondering if I continue my jab we met obsession I would probably relate to the hotel decent's manager more by then 🤣
