You'll be disappointed if you read the book. Mark Ruffalo is poorly cast. His accent and voice is as bad as Brad Pitt's in Seven Years in Tibet Why could they not cast french actors? The lines are terrible, for example the part where Etienne asks Marie to ask him AGAIN to go for a walk, really!!!! Like other reviews have noted too, I thought we were over portraying Germans as evil bastar....s And, of course everyone has a fresh French flag to wave when the Americans show up. The young German soldier's role is decent, but the rest are disappointing. The cinematography is good but that's about it. Read the book, skip the series
