Wow! Such a beautiful and sensitively made film I was mesmerised by the photography and performances from start to finish. Sally and Ethan deserve Oscars. It’s a heartbreaking true story I cried the whole second half and the icing on the cake is the authentic footage of Maud and Everett at the end ❤️. Stock up on tissues!

A hidden gem fab performances, raw bleak cinematography of Welsh landscape, dark brooding great crime stories and explosive climax at end of series 3. Eagerly hoping for a series 4 to tie up loose ends of Tom’s back story.

Not surprised this won an award. Gritty, tragic, moving, bleak, immersive, cinematography is top notch, authentic performances, reminds me of Three Girls style. And Fassbender plays these deplorable characters so well. Hidden gem.

Blown away by Ben’s performance I hope he gets an award for this portrayal of a psychotic experience. The camera work is top notch too reflecting his turmoil and inner torment. It is no surprise that a lifetime of psychological abuse from the father has culminated in his traumatic episode. The brief moments of lucidity like giving the work colleague the money and setting the vile best man straight are touching and authentic. I experienced very similar with my son so can relate, very disturbing and hard to watch but an admirable reconstruction. I assume he was finally sectioned and received the help he needed like my son did.

Totally unrealistic portrayal. It seemed the family had learned nothing about from their previous experience of the brother’s heroin abuse. I cannot believe how the sister enables her brother plus exposes the toddler to the horrific experience of witnessing her father’s drug abuse. Found it hard to have any sympathy for any of the characters apart from the little girl, anyone with half a brain would have given her to the mother or at least removed her instantly from this abusive situation. None of the family seemed to care about the welfare of the child. Family have to have boundaries to protect themselves from the addict’s behaviour. If you’re looking for a good drug abuse story A Beautiful Boy is excellent.

Oh dear what a flop! Series 3 is embarrassingly dreadful. Now I remember why I had a niggle with the first 2 series - it’s littered with puerile jokes about sex acts and the latest series is like that for at least 50 per cent of the script like RGervais couldn’t think of anything better to write. I did not find it funny just tedious could not continue watching after 3 episodes. I like the premise of the series the grieving process and it could have been so much better without the infantile humour but the meaningful moving content would barely have filled 2 episodes. The best character is Diane Morgan (aka Mandy) but she is under utilised. Overall did not enjoy very disappointing first series was better.

Good bits: Elizabeth Olsen is captivating on screen a brilliant performance along with the rest of the cast. Soundtrack is banging. Nostalgic and immersive experience with 80s style etc. Best scenes are when Candy explodes, discovery of Betty and courtroom scenes. Great cinematography .
Not so good: very slow burn and the affair is unremarkable and uneventful, Allan is dull as ditchwater
Thoroughly enjoyed the journey
