Emotionally compelling and quite amusing! It's a wonderful novel. I remember my youth in this book, my childhood friends and how we spent our summer vacation after the schoolyear, playing, searching for adventure or even screwing things up and just having fun. Our decisions in life has an equivalent consequences or blessings. The most important is we never give up when we face trials, we face them with courage and hope. I can relate to and understand very well, the recurring events, good and unpleasant that actually happen in real life. What you constantly do and give away to other people, wether it's virtuousness or selfishness, surprisingly goes back to you in time. Empathy and compassion are essential to our social and spiritual being, mainly in sorrowful and tragic events. Whatever life's circumstances bring us, in the end, sympathy and kindness bind us together. Thus, we survive amd cope with life.

I love this book from start to finish. Although it has a painful ending when Alexander passed away. When I finished reading the book, that's when I remember Leo's sister, Jess, whom was only mentioned a couple of times in the story but she never visit their parents even on the day of Alexander's funeral, has no appearance on the scene. But I like how the story goes, with the past and the present.. it was beautifully narrated. One of the books I will always remember and would read again.
