A feel-good, "Member Berries" movie. Great visuals and amazing cast hired to present a weak shallow plot, solely written to evoke nostalgia feelings, with so many inconsistencies it feels apart immediately if you start analyzing it. I especially disliked the "Always" reference. So many parallels with Harry Potter plot itself, can't it be something more original?
I think the new Fantastic Beasts works for people only familiar with Harry Potter through movies, who want that nostalgia fix on a Saturday evening. If you care about books and canon, or if you want to watch a movie without a nagging feeling you've seen all of that before, wait till you can rent it for $5 somewhere or simply don't bother. I was very surprised to see J.K. Rowling as the co-author of the plot, I guess after the Cursed Child she simply approves anything.
