A good movie. Well executed, overall good acting. While I admire the star, I felt his performance stiff. (Too many long stares). The performances of Sophia Miles was excellent. Great story makes you want to root for the “good guys”.

I agree with the review of Variety. This whole thing looks like a vision of someone on LSD. My biggest objection is that the flowers all appear by magic. In the book and earlier versions of the movie the two kids had to work their tales off for weeks to restore it. That’s the problem, all current movies want you to think good things come from magic or just because you are you. Look at Milan vs. the earlier Disney animated version. She had to earn their respect. In the new version/ nope- she’s magical. Puke.
