I love history. The movie is about an extremely important time in mankind’s history. The new technologies ability to revolutionize and/or potentially annihilate life bears some resemblance to the technological advancements with Artificial Intelligence that is currently underway. The desperate existential race between Nazi Germany and the USA/Britain/Canada to develop the Atom Bomb technology bears similarities between the race today between China/Russia and the USA/EU/Japan to be the first to wield General Artificial Intelligence. The movie however was a bit long at around 3 hours. And I would have preferred to have seen much more action. Lots of scenes were really boring conversations with dramatic music or sounds rumbling in the background. Remove the dramatic sounds and it’s a yawing boring sleeper of a movie for about 1.5 hours out of the 3 hour movie. To me a great 5 star movie has to be one that I would enjoy sitting through to watch a 3rd, 4th, 5th even 10th time over several decades. I do not see myself sitting through a 3rd viewing of this movie. Perhaps a 2nd time just to see the Irish lead actor Murphy’s ocean blue eyes. I therefore only give it 3 out of 5 stars.
