IMO, Daredevil is the most underrated, underappreciated Marvel product currently out there. It happens to also be one of the best. Start with a stellar and perfectly chosen cast: from Elden Henson's charming turn as best friend Foggy Nelson, to Vincent D'Onofrio's nuanced take on the Kingpin, to Elodie Yung's scene-stealing portrayal of Elektra. All great in their own rights, but you add a lead like Charlie Cox who can so embody Matt Murdock first and foremost AND bring the physical fighting chops of DD to life, and you have a blockbuster hit of a show. You add to that some exceptional fight choreography, along with the dark and moody cinematography, all set against the bustling streets and shady alleys of Hell's Kitchen and you have a more than worthy entry to the Marvel Universe.
Daredevil has always been a personal favorite of mine and has a rabid, hard-core following of fans of the comics. DD's attraction has always been his relatability to the everyday person. His storylines are some of the deepest, darkest and most personal of any superheroes. Through it all, he perseveres. Never yielding or compromising his morals, even in the face of losing it all. The Man Without Fear always picks himself up and keeps fighting. So like his dad.
Daredevil is not the biggest or the fastest. He can't fly or fire beams of energy from his eyes or hands. Regardless, he is one of the greatest heroes of the Marvel Universe and I am very excited to see more of him in the future.
