I honestly wasn't expecting much after The Last Jedi but I was pleasantly surprised with the finale of the trilogy. As a lifelong Star Wars fan I'll be the first to admit that I was really disappointed with The Last Jedi and tbh I wasn't that impressed with The Force Awakens. For the most part I've approved of the casting choices and even like most of the new characters but I haven't been a fan of the overall plot and lack of character development of the new trilogy. It just hasn't felt like Star Wars. Rogue One was incredible and to a somewhat lesser extent I enjoyed Solo too but ep. 7 and 8 just felt flat to me. I really feel like TRoS got things back on track and ended the Skywalker saga with a bang. I'd have been a lot happier with Luke still around and playing a bigger role but I'm thrilled with the direction they took Rey and even Kylo was much better than in the first 2 installments. I honestly don't get the critics bad reviews and the nitpicking about undoing what was done in ep 8 (that's a good thing). This felt like Star Wars again and seeing Palpatine finally being portrayed as the almost godlike powerful individual that he is was amazing. I prompted the same sort of excitement that Vader's scene in Rogue One created. I really wish the trilogy would have brought Palpatine back sooner and delved into the Sith Empire more (The First Order was just lacking as villains). In summary it may not be perfect but any true Star Wars fan will love it.

Not sure if there are a bunch of paid 5 star reviews or people just have terrible taste. I tend to like shows with monsters/vampires (Supernatural, Buffy, Angel, Constantine [the movie], etc) but I struggled to get 3 episodes in and called it. There's a reason Netflix wouldn't release episodes to critics for review. Bad writing, bad characters, just plain bad. God I hope The Witcher is good cause this show is terrible.
