Ok, forget the 1-star reviews ... I just watched this movie with my daughter in the theatre, and this movie was pure movie fun from beginning to end! To clarify - I watched the original when it was new, and am now watching this new iteration with my 16-year-old (who has also seen the original). We both agreed that this was probably the most fun that we have had at the movies in a l-o-n-g time! The story line is true to the original, with a fresh twist thanks to razor-sharp humor, great choreography, and catchy musical numbers. And, speaking of musical numbers ... most of the one-star reviews that I read cited these as the main reason for the poor review (?) - ummm ... it's a musical - expect there to be singing and dancing! Ok, while this was a totally fresh take on the original, not all that was new was improved. While casting was quite good overall, the new Cady was unable to hold the spotlight when paired with the new Regina (who was, without doubt, the star of the show!). That said, I am still giving it 5 stars, and would gladly watch it again with my other daughter! If you enjoy musicals, and enjoyed the original movie, this will not disappoint!
