This movie is so-so. Period. Its pace is tedious and the dialogue is ridiculously convoluted and corny. No one talks like these people—anywhere. Terrence Stamp plays the stereotypical ex con who supposedly doesn’t know the world has changed (as he suspiciously eyes a parking valet who requests his keys). Yes, this really happens. His tiresome use of British slang and colloquialisms is suppose to perplex the Yanks and make the viewer chuckle. It doesn’t work. It gets old quick. Stylized flashbacks and scene changes are a sign that the story lacks any originality. Find something with real grit to watch and not this slow-moving exercise in self conscious film making.
