With Vitalogy Pearl Jam went on an experimental journey departing from the heavy signature grunge sounds of their first two studio albums. And it worked. This was an album I had on repeat for many months when it was released.
Themes of mortality, love, despair and redemption permeate catchy melodies, and punk rock influenced driving guitar, occasionally slowing down to simple and haunting ballads. This album leaves a permanent mark on you that you can’t get rid of, which is a very good thing.
