Jeff Pearson is a gem. A friend insisted my wife and me read "Forever Across the Marsh;" we both loved it and we read all the time. Pearson is real voice and a Southern voice out of that great tradition that sees the humor in the dark, with a cast of characters wanting more out of their lives, whatever the frustrations. In Pearson's writing we feel the power of the land and the water -- and the love of the human race with all its distortions and mistakes. As I said, he's a voice, a new voice among us, and I hope he keeps writing. We're waiting for the next book.
