Watched Tubular Bells Golden Anniversary in the State Theatre in Sydney. The bass was too loud, and she couldn’t play or sing. Moonlight Shadow was awful. The guitarists were okay. I’ve been looking forward to this for decades, but it sounded like a bunch of high school students attempting to play Tubular Bells. It was false advertising at best, as Mike Oldfield was nowhere to be seen. Mike Oldfield’s long time collaborator Robin Smith is leading the tour, playing piano and synthesiser. Very disappointing.
