I couldn't finish this book. I got to chapter 12 and very little had happened, not much to hold my interest. To be specific, there's a lot extraneous information and internal dialogue which drags on and even sabotages attempts at creating tension in moments meant to be scary. The narrator/ character voice is very upbeat and attempts to be silly which doesn't fit the creepy atmosphere the author is trying to build.

Too much dialogue and internal monologue is my #1 critique as much of it is dead weight and makes the story drag on. A few hours in and still not much to speak of in the way of external action driving the story forward. As the reader you're not invited into the story to discover anything for yourself but rather listening to the long winded and tangential re-count of how someone else came to investigate and make discovery in the murder. Characters are also not very compelling. I couldn't finish it, it was boring, frustrating.
