I predicted doom and gloom, but out of the three movies I saw this weekend (the others being Dark Phoenix and Godzilla), this was easily the most enjoyable. It’s not fair to expect this to be the same as the original, but on its merits the movie is an absolute thrill. Visually stunning with the characters we millennials knew and love along with some changes that make the movie more relevant with the times. Will Smith decided to be himself as the genie, which surprisingly worked...and giving him a love interest was a little odd, but it’s cute... I had low expectations and I’m not disappointed at all. I really liked it. It was worth spending the money to see this in theaters.
