Corny good fun, and having Ryan as the lead gives it all a hint of mystery and validity. He's so good at acting "awkward in your own skin" types who are 100% genuine. While everyone else is acting a comedy, Ryan is acting a serious dilemma tearing him apart and it shows. It's like The Unbearable Weight Of A Massive Talent.

Please read about Miyazaki before watching this film many people who think some of the abstract points are pointless, simply have nothing to connect them to. The Boy and the Heron (How do you live? In Japanese) is a very unsubtle way to show what went through Miyazakis head during his early years, the end of world war 2. It's an autobiography of his childhood imagination and understand of how the world should be, and how it can't be that. A journey about acceptance of loss and pain. Acceptance of ones life.

A great story ruined by 1) bad acting 2) horrible cuts 3) some of the worst pacing in movie history. Over all it wasn't bad, but it felt sooooo long for the sake of being long, thus ruining the movie. The characters were wildly inconsistent with their characters (identities) and this just made it worse. As if you know what the movie is doing but don't understand why it's doing it this way

A cinematic masterpiece that nails the basics of historical events. Shows Napoleon as who he truly was, a deeply troubled, in some ways insane, person who reached positions of power, and then lost his mind, but had enormous power over the people due to his truly Julius Cesar like persona that simply made people believe in him, whether he was right or wrong. Yes, a lot of history has to be cut, and that's true, we are missing tons of time and detail, but what we are not missing is who those people were and how they acted, and why they changed history. The persona of Napoleon was more than adequately recreated, as well las many of the people around him.

Glazes over everything, distorts the facts, skips history, over the top dramatization, lack of focus. Waste of 70mm IMAX. Nothing noteworthy, could have watched on my phone.
