One of the best shows (not just sci-fi shows) in the last 20 years. It starts as all shows do, especially those with the budget they had, with growing pains. It was always an upward trajectory, never losing focus or simplifying or taking the easy road out. Nor was it violent for shock value. Each scene was what it needed to be to display the full range of emotions the would exist in the world that the show built. It shared a reality where life isn't fair, but if you work hard together you can make it more fair for your clan. And given the opportunity, extreme hard work and the willingness to change, humanity has it in itself to be better then it is. This is a show that is ultimately optimistic, very closely wrapped in reality. We can be better, we can do it now, but it's not free, nor is it easy.
