I was raised in Brooklyn and have friends and family on Staten Island. This movie was familiar to me growing up in that time. The story, the writing, the acting - All phenomenal. It was good to see Annabella Sciorra. She was heartbreaking as the wife, whose husband is killed by “the family” and is trained to believe what she is told. And put on a brave front for her son who also somehow knows the truth. Emily Vader, and Odessa A’zion were amazing as sisters, who love each other, but each deal with their family so differently. No one discussing what is actually going on in their family. And Jennifer Esposito gives us stunning performance as a mob wife on the edge, trying to keep it together. More afraid of being alone than anything else that she denies the reality of their lifves to a heartbreaking conclusion. I highly recommend watching this film. I know I will see it again.
