This is NOT a "complete history," since it was written before season 3 was done.
But this book is a "MUST HAVE" for every Star Trek fan, as the author was in the Star Trek offices seeing events first hand. The notes Roddenberry had about each crew member, how he originally envisioned them, are very illuminating. Various ship designs are shown, so we see how the final design came into being.
There are personal inter office memos that show some of the difficulties they tried to solve, as well as some of the humor they shared.
I give this book my highest rating. I've owned it since I was a child, and still refer to it.
