I met Neil who was a friend of my late ex husband, Steve Hofmann when our daughter was an infant over 30 years ago. Emily delighted in playing with him when we visited.
Reading the book was eye opening, especially about his earlier years before I met him. He freely shared his inner thoughts about being diagnosed with Dystonia as a child and the multiple procedures he endured in search (mostly for those around him) of changing his bodily functions. In the end, it was his own journey as an artist that gave him the most freedom of expression. In his writing, he displays a heightened sensitivity to the needs and feelings of those around him as well to his own life path.
