I went into the movie thinking it was about a fat person and knowing nothing else. However, it was more about his struggle with homosexuality and religion (which he believes took his partner from him). The morbid obesity was an unfortunate by-product of his grief. His broken relationship with his daughter was a major part of the story and the resolve was executed sufficiently. The acting was exceptional throughout the movie.
