I love old WWII films especially naval battles, but this was just not my cup of tea. It was more like a play with a lot of dry drama...Cagney was excellent but it was just too slow for me, mostly reflective with no action. The worst part of this old movie was the persistent, gawdy, obnoxious mood music background. Some sort of bizarre men's chorus was used as background music, it is creepy, eerie and destroys the story. The music almost makes the movie unwatchable.
