What an incredible book! As a 30-something straight, male comedian who never met his Dad and has historically been incredibly dramatic about breakups, I felt personally attacked by this book. Honestly though the way Dolly managed to create the male protagonist with so many astutely observed facets of the male experience was equally impressive and humbling. By the end I was left feeling that I had been given the gift of seeing a part of myself, and maybe men as a whole, through the eyes of women. This could easily have been a scathing, bitter book about how pathetic men can be, but instead it was incredibly generous, emphatic, and not to mention so, so so so so FUNNY!!
Maybe the highest praise for it is that as soon as I finished I immediately started reading it again, and am halfway through. I just loved it, and will be telling people about this book for months!
Thankyou Dolly!!
