I tried so hard to convince myself to like this. I accepted that the writer chose to demolish the hero's journey of all three of the main male leads. I accepted that the vast array of races comprising the characters of the same supposed bloodline made no sense, and that it was okay. Even the shuddering over the top battle scene in the beginning was something I was willing to compromise on. However, after completing the first season, I can't force myself to continue. I've never watched anything so blatantly bad. It barely resembles the books (don't get me started on the spaceship scene), but that is the least of my complaints. The male characters are garbage. The traumatized backstories are terrible. Lan is useless. Nyneave is ridiculously overemphasized. Moraine is basically the main character. The acting is atrocious (Rosemund Pike was tolerable). The gay/LGBTQ propaganda has leached into and tarnished a sturdy tale. Why? Why?!?! Can't we just enjoy a series without politics and woke agendas influencing everything? Of course not, it's Amazon. If you were a fan of the books, save yourself the pain and don't watch it. It's not worth the devastating disappointment at finally having this gem adapted into a show. The writer is garbage and should be fired. I can't even attest to the acting, because their script was garbage. Except Nyneave was aweful, acting like a pathetic shy girl one second and then yelling the next. I tried so hard to like it. I really did. These five star reviews are either made by paid reviewers or incredibly dense npc's. And the trollocs....I weep at how pathetic the CGI was. They could have come from an 80's film. Undersized and not intimidating in the least. So much potential from these books to make one of the most epic series ever to grace television, wasted.
