Wow. Just wow. I was really excited for this because they said it would be very accurate to the books. I truly did my best to give it the benefit of the doubt. The first adaptation got so much heat from everyone because it wasn't accurate but honestly? that was so much better and I actually enjoyed it, and the characters got hated on because their appearances weren't as described in the books but for me, was close enough, and now the characters are a total 180° for inclusivity's sake but the thing is... the whole series is diverse enough already. They didn't have to change a character to show that they are being inclusive. There are plenty of characters with different cultural background in the series, Drew Tanaka, Leo Valdez, Hazel, Piper, Frank Zhong, Nico, to name a few. Annabeth's character is a statement in itself, she is a blonde girl with grey eyes, she is meant to dispose of the impression that blondes are always portrayed as dumb girls. If they wanted to have a more diversified characters then I have nothing against that, but Annabeth's appearance was literally the thing that was constantly mentioned because that was pertinent to her whole persona. Next, the fight with the fury... what was that all about? Percy had the pen already? and the attack didn't even last 30 seconds? then there's the fountain scene lmao I get that they are kids but that was such bad acting. And Grover ratted Percy out?? Lol. When did that ever happen in the books. And Gabe Ugliano's character wasn't even that bad??? If you love the books I suggest that you keep out of this monstrosity because it will just ruin the whole fantasy. I'm rereading the series now just to prevent myself from watching it again because I'm scared I'll never love the series the same way because of this horrible experience.
