Great movie, evocative and atmostpheric, with both leading players giving it all, as indeed can be said for all the cast. Do not understand why this film is not included in 1001 movies to see before you die. The futility of war and one mans determination to send this train load of art back to Germany, and for what, as the German officer is stopped from unloading a train full of retreating solders on its way back from the fighting by another officer who has seen the futility of it all.
