In my opinion, a definite must-see. This film tackles a pertinent, broken and astoundingly big issue in the world we're living in TODAY. It's not a 'feel-good' sort of film. It's about slavery - child slavery. You're not going to leave feeling empowered. If you have any capacity for empathy and compassion you're going to leave heartbroken and possibly feeling like you're incapable of making even the tiniest impact in this world of traffickers we are so removed from.
Sound of Freedom is a perfect example of the impact 'clean' viewing can have. This film destroys the misrepresentation that in order for a film to do well and gain popularity, it needs to be full of jaw-dropping obscenities and distasteful language (not much is needed in terms of script writing when 50% of a movie is filled with expletives...think about it). It is clean, yet has an authenticity that can be felt throughout the movie. In a time when the world is hiding behind fantasy, it's refreshing to find something real once in a while, as heartbreaking as it may be.
If you're a parent, the impact of this movie should empower you to protect your own kids. Who's care do you entrust them to?
If you're not, your capacity to help on the front lines increases significantly.
