I am flat on my back healing from back surgery and Barbra Streisand is getting me through this. Her book is so personable and hearing her narrate is a gift. All her anecdotes and little pieces of history, bring me into her world. Even if I don’t know all the names she’s using, which are different directors, producers, writers, it does not detract, and I don’t tell myself I have to remember every little thing. Her life is very rich.she grew up in Brooklyn so her accent brings everything to a familiar sounding place. Both my parents were from Brooklyn, so I grew up with that language. My father, who is 98 years old, listened to pieces of it with me, and loved hearing about her descriptions of the foods in Brooklyn, which he remembered so well. Thank you, Barbra. My back is on the mend. The otherwise long hours of tedium are spent with Barbra Streisand, telling me a story. Full and detailed. Mahhvelous!
