My favourite war movie, without question.
Two quite non-violent scenes are still stuck in my memory after 25 years.
First, the Jewish soldier taunting the captured Germans, running alongside them holding out his Star of David necklace yelling "Ich Bin Juden" (sp?)
Second is the farmhouse scene. Not a word. Mrs. Ryan at her sink, sees the army staff car pull up in front and an officer and a chaplain get out. She knows what's coming and moves to her doorstep and sits down, waiting for the news they bring.
