For me, having read the book numerous times since adolescence, seeing the movies and stage renditions I anticipated watching this for days!! Could not wait to share it with my 75 year old Mother, who, was seeing it for the first time. She was miserable! While she tried numerous times to make kind remarks about the costumes, sets and details to design....she struggled to understand the story and hated its back and forth storyline through the years. The girls were confusing as were the men. Sadly, sadly disappointed in this adaptation. More so, I’m saddened that she’ll never fully understand the beauty of such a great, timeless story!
