I've been learning Hindi from a variety of sources, and what I really needed was a comprehensive textbook that would explain the many questions I come across in my study. This book was a gift to me, and what an amazing gift it's been!
For the intermediate student of Hindi, this book breaks down the many grammatical aspects that set Hindi apart from one's mother tongue, (in my case, American English.) Everything from word order, to ergative case, to proper verb case usage, is explained in detail. My studies have grown by leaps and bounds since I've received this book and began referencing it.
My only complaint is a small one; it does not pertain to the book's contents, and it's only that the font used within the text for the Hindi characters can be difficult to read. However, I have come far enough to realize that I'm going to need to recognize words in a variety of fonts, especially in my India travels. Therefore, I know it's both just a matter of training my eyes to get accustomed to it, plus, it's good practice!
Five stars, very helpful study guide, and a book I'll keep for life, to have on hand for reference. I'm interested in seeing which other books Dr. Agnihotri has authored, as he has proven with this book that he is a trusted authority on language.
