It's not great, but it is good. I've been absolutely desperate for Star Wars to explore this time period and the jedi order. The characters are the main weak point. They're not particularly engaging and it's hard to tell how much of that is the writing vs how much is the acting. But the story and expansion of the universe is fascinating.
I'm so over the hate this show has received. First it was all "how DARE they cast a black female lead!!!1! Not in MY star wars!!11!1!!" Then those people got called out as bigoted. Now it's "What? ME?? I'm not a bigot! It's because... Uh... It's because of the way it messes up the lore, actually!"
Bro. This is Star Wars. Star Wars notoriously has a soft, wishy washy, renegerrific lore. I still remember when people claimed to hate the prequels because midichlorians supposedly threw the lore out the window. Prior to the prequels, people assumed the force was some mystical, magical force. They were furious that the prequels tried to establish a scientific basis for it. And now I'm seeing reviews about how The Acolyte breaks the lore of Star Wars because it doesn't talk about midichlorians enough? K.
People want to hate what they want to hate and it's a shame that this interesting story isn't going to be finished because of the need to cater to an insufferable fan base.
