I thought "The High Note" was a great movie. I was looking forward to seeing it after Ms. Ellis-Ross mentioned her role in it. Not to be compared to her mother, I thought she did great singing and her acting is always amazing. Dakota was a great Maggie. She is a great actor in the sense that embodies the roles she plays. Kelvin Harrison, while not hard on the eyes at all, did great and sang beautifully. Ice Cube, Zoe Chao, and June Diane Raphael were scene stealers for sure.
I don't necessarily agree with fellow reviewers that the script was predictable... Didn't see the whole mom/son reveal at all. I did of course know that Grace and Maggie would work together again as sooner and producer because she just knew Grace. Overall, I thought it was a feel good, go for your dreams, musical movie. I was here for it!
