Bill Jones, Jr. is a master of his craft and, The Little Burgundy is a fine example of his ability to tell a story. Beautiful in its lyricism, Jones' narrative style is accomplished and at times poetic in its meter giving the reader the sense that they are experiencing something precious. There are laugh out loud moments, and moments that'll make you cry. His characters sing with personality and complexity. Jeanne D'Ark is a formidable character and an equally formidable detective. She's unusual in that she has a the rare gift of Synaesthesia that give her powers of perception and deduction an added advantage in that she is able to read the people around her with uncanny accuracy. Perhaps and modern, female Sherlock Holmes with Foster Cain her Watson, this is an epic page turner that will keep you on the edge of your seat until the very end. I definitely recommend this and Bill Jones' other works. An author to watch out for.
