A truly heartwarming film that was revolutionary at the time. It still is magical, Tom Hanks is phenomenal as Forrest Gump. Only a great actor could play a character like Forrest, and not be annoying or over-sentimental. For historical nerds like myself, this film is a treasure trove. The great supporting cast also make this a great film. It definitely has it's faults, mostly concerning the treatment of Robin Wright's character Jenny. Also some of the visuals have aged, though still should be commended for their ingenuity. Although, 'The Shawshank Redemption' and 'Pulp Fiction' were more worthy films of the Best Picture Oscar, we should not forget about the culture significance of Forrest Gump.
