(SPOILER MAYBE) I watched this because I loved Fatih Akim's The Edge of Heaven so much, and I think Heaven was a fuller movie, but boy, can Akim get dark! Diane Kruger was great, especially for me where she played a woman who could not rely on herself to always do the right thing. After she found out she wasn't pregnant, there was no question how it would end. I loved the lawyer, Denis Moscitto, too, and of course secretly hoped they would end up together, but that would have been too Hollywood. That type of Nazi aggression could never happen here, though, right?

I am so happy I can read these reviews and get a few things I missed, like the mother running out of the bus abandoning the kids or the father saving the mother in the snow as a fake act for the kids. I did think his bawling out in the hall in his underpants under the watchful eye of the nosey hotel clerk was funny and the woman in the open marriage (thrill seeker?) staying on the bus was very funny.
