I’ve played NASCAR games from NASCAR 2001 to now, and this is by far the most buggy NASCAR game I’ve ever played. I tried booting it up and just doing a quick race to get acquainted with it, here’s my takeaways:
1: the menu rarely works, how the menu of all things doesn’t work is beyond me, but I hop in the car, it gives me the option for the data pad or to look at my crew chief to start, and there’s a 75% chance that when this menu comes up, the options just don’t show or work, I had to restart my session several times to get the game to actually load in the menu’s options.
2: the car handling options are the most confusing I’ve seen, one second I can’t turn the car, the next I’m spinning out from flicking the analog stick. There’s no in between.
3: the AI is just unfinished, it has to be, because you start a race: they crash, you get on the restart, all but 6 have completely stopped, you get near them, it’s like they’re a magnet, they just hit you and send you spinning.
4: the game itself is just unfinished, I started a race or get off a restart, and the game just throws me in as my car is coming out of the trioval with whatever AI cars actually working just racing off into the sunset. There’s a solid 3 second delay in reaction from when the flat drops to when the game throws me in.
Overall, I’m never playing this again, not when I can’t even do a simple race. This game is as broken as they get, and if you work hard for you money, spend it on literally anything else. If you did already buy this and are looking for validation in your experience, I’m sorry you spent money on this. Here’s hoping next game, someone actually competent who won’t skimp out on quality assurance will be heading it. As for this one though, there’s $20 and a half hour of my life I’m never getting back.
