Dat Boi

I was actually pleasantly surprised with this one. I was going in expecting to it be a boring souless cashgrab but that isn't true... it's a interesting souless cashgrab. First the pros, the environments looked real, more real than in Pinocchio, and the designs, even though they're still horrifying, did have a bit more expression except Flounder who looks like he's dead inside. Also the casting for Ursula was perfect, I don't think it could've been casted better in my opinion, and the casting for Ariel's father was...fine, he did a good enough job. Now with the cons. Like I said before, Flounder looks dead inside, with no expression or anything and looked really uncanny. Sebastian's voice was awful, the person behind it didn't sound like he wanted to be there, and his accent sounded fake. The casting for Scuttle was strange to say the least. On one hand, Awkwafina did a good job at keeping the dumb personality in it, but LOOOOORF the song. It was agonizing, they tried to be on a "rythym" but they were more talking to each other and it was awful to watch. Ariel's performance, while good with the songs, was pretty cribgy to watch at times. When she lost her voice, I don't know what they were going for, but how she was acting was very awkward. It's best just to wait for it to come on Disney+.

This game is good! Not perfect, but not the worst either. The story, despite being slow in some places, is pretty well made and entertaining, but I will admit the writing could have been a bit better with the main protagonist. Speaking of which, he's...a mixed bag. One minute he's a unlikeable dick who hates everyone and everything, and the very next second he's a nice kind hearted soul who's nice to everyone around him. It was pretty confusing to keep up with what emotions he was gonna pick left and right, and was overall very complicated. The combat was also confusing, since for one while I can understand that they wanted to add more "Umf" to the axe, it attacks waaay to slow, and I don't think it would be too bad if it wasn't for the fact that the rotation with the camera is way too loose, with everything around you just a constant blur even if you turn it a couple of inches, and the combat with the robots is tough as well since once you get hit in a group encounter, you'll be stun locked, with wouldn't be so bad if it wasn't for the fact that the stunpock happens for like 3 seconds while you're still being battered by the robot, and the dodging isn't all that good anyways so it just makes it worse. The character often talk over each other as well. Overall, this game is good from a visual standpoint, but everything else to absolutely use some work.
