If you enjoy cringing then you will love it.

I was impressed by Anna Kendrick’s directorial debut and her portrayal of Cheryl. The ending left me feeling unsatisfied. While the buildup was great, it didn’t provide the closure I expected for the characters, especially Cheryl, whose story feels unresolved. It’s as if the film holds back just when you want more emotional payoff or deeper exploration of how the experience affected her. The focus on broader themes was well done, but I at the end I was just like; that’s it?

The premise is absurd, and the story beats feel disconnected and illogical. At first, I was confused by the unusually long takes during the concert scenes, but now I see the reasoning behind them, as others have pointed out. The director’s brand is known for delivering plot twists, so I expected something worth while. However, the actual experience was underwhelming—it felt like riding a roller coaster, only to reach the top of the first big hill and then be told to get off.

Paced very slow. Plot twists have no effect when you have no reason to care about the characters. Writing this during the movie if that tells you anything.
