I don’t know where to begin. I wasn’t impressed by the single he released earlier this year, but I am totally underwhelmed by the album. In fact, I really couldn’t get through it without skipping to the middle of many of the songs just to see if it was going to get better.
Sadly, I am going to have to put David Gilmour into the category of some of my other favourite guitar players like Mark Knopfler, and say with all the love I can, your fire and creativity are behind you.
Like Knopfler, Gilmore should get out of his comfort zone and start collaborating with other artists because musicians need to play off of each other to keep their edge.
In the words of another guitar playing giant who started the rock ‘n’ roll genre, the thrill is gone.
