Spoilers ahead --
Don't know where to start with this game..
Its almost as if the writers did everything they possibly could to assassinate Ellie's character.
They turned her into a selfish brat that appeared to have no father/daughter bond with Joel at all despite everything they went through together in the first game.
The whole revenge thing with Abby just turns out to be a massive guilt trip on Ellie's part for the fact she turned her back on the one man that never gave up on her and saved her life so many times.
I'm aware there's the whole saviour of mankind thing and that they needed Ellie for a cure. Yes, it's a big deal - but as a parent I would kill anyone who came near my child with the intention they had no matter the circumstances. ESPECIALLY after already having had another one of my children die in my arms as I helplessly watched. (Joel explains this to Ellie in the final cutscene of the game, and how he saw Ellie as a second chance and he didn't waste it.)
Can we just appreciate the amount of kids that would kill for a dad like Joel and never have that chance? They just spend their lives being abused and neglected?
The fact that Ellie goes through as much as she does just to let Abby go in the end just makes absolutely no sense to me either, and I didn't really appreciate the fact you have to play as Abby for half the bloody game as the writers feebly attempt to force you into liking her. It was like metal gear solid 2 with Snake and Raiden all over again.
I detested Abbys character and I didn't care about her story. I wanted her dead. End of.
Overall the gameplay was enjoyable, although there were some tedious parts that seemed to drag and feel a tad repetitive, yeah the graphics were on point and don't get me wrong there were some shocking parts as the story unfolds, but that's about the only praise I can give.
The whole experience in the end was just a disappointment for me and my heart just ached for Joel. He had a heart of gold and didn't deserve anything that happened to him.
