My family and I have watched all of The Resident, ER, The Good Doctor and many more medical dramas, so we were excited to watch the premier of this show.
However, in comparison to those shows, we found Brilliant Minds to be subpar, boring, and widely unrealistic.
The dialogue was very poorly written...as the actors spoke we were literally laughing because it was so bad and felt very much like 'lines'
The AI exterior shot of the hospital was sad. I hate that AI Is starting to get such cheap use in our tv shows. And him swimming in the river like that?? I am a Triathlete and no one should be doing open water swimming like that, unless they want to die.
I feel like there was very little medicine up until the part where he did the chalkboard drawing. This is disappointing as compared to shows like ER and the Resident, which inspires people to look up medical terms as they watch.
The doctor being gay felt very pushed into the show. In professional work settings, especially those as high-pressure as a hospital, it does not matter and no one cares. As long as you can do your job well.
I do not look forward to more of the political injections I know this show will try to push. The only hi-light for me was the fabulous Donna Murphy.
