I am happy I was alive to witness this beautiful creative piece even if it is the last of it's kind.
The fact that the entire movie is hand drawn still gets me in awe. I know it took a reeeeeally long time, but it was also the shortest 2hrs of my life. I was so captivated I just wanted more.

I believe part of the point was for the watchers to see the world of Ghibli and watch it quite literally come to an end. The ending was abrupt, but I believe it showcases the nearing end of a legend that cannot continue making and holding this world together and without a person to carry it onward, it simply will cease to exist.
There is beauty in the fact that saving the world is always a choice and not destiny and self sacrifice is not necessary because someone else has willing made a decision. Regardless of previous generations, you always have the right to live your own life and I think it was perfectly captured in this film
